The Council on Educational Technology brings focus and commitment to MIT’s educational technology initiatives by providing:
- Strategic guidance to program and infrastructure initiatives designed to enhance the quality of an MIT education
- Coordination of Institute-wide educational experiments and programs
- Assessment of the effectiveness of educational technology initiatives
The CET is chartered to enhance the quality of MIT education by encouraging the appropriate application of technology, both on and off campus.
In its role providing continuous strategic guidance and vision for institutional activities related to the application of information technology to education, the Council advises the Provost on priorities, policies, and new opportunities. In advising the Provost, MITCET serves as the voice of the faculty in reporting to the Information Technology Governance Committee (ITGC) concerning educational technology issues within the broader context of the Institute’s information technology activities.
